Since the beginning of 2024, Google has been rolling out a change for Google Maps on Android Auto and the adjustment is now affecting more and more drivers.
It’s about the function of displaying buildings in the navigation service in 3D. This should now be activated by default in Android Auto, reports the Google blog 9to5Google.
If you use Android Auto, the 3D view may already be activated by default. If this look annoys you, you can turn it off in the Google Maps settings.
As 9to5Google tested, the 3D view should only work in “light mode”. In “dark mode” the 3D buildings would disappear. When you switch to “light mode”, the view should be active again.
