Google Meet borrows Zoom’s push-to-talk

For a few long months now, videoconferencing software such as Zoom, Meet or Teams have been part of the daily life of many Internet users. Also, over the course of updates, each offers new features to make life easier for its users. Today, it’s Google’s turn to bring a feature already well known to users… of Zoom to Meet.

Indeed, Google announces the arrival of a function generally called ” push to talk which allows the user to activate their microphone by holding down a key. Here, just hold the spacebar and speak. Releasing the key automatically reactivates mute mode.

According to Google, this tool facilitates meetings by quickly activating your microphone to speak, via a very simple manipulation. A function that can also be useful for all those who often forget to put themselves back in mute mode after their intervention. Note that the feature is not activated by default and that it is part of an upcoming update starting September 9th.
