Google said on Thursday it was taking a hiatus from its December software update for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro to deal with dropped call issues. Updates will resume in late January, the tech giant said, with a fix for the connectivity issue as well as all fixes and improvements planned for the December update.
The December update began streaming on December 6, but Google says some customers reported their calls were dropped or disconnected. The December update was originally supposed to include a series of fixes and improvements, including a fix for an issue that caused the Google Assistant to unintentionally initiate a phone call under certain conditions.
Customers who have already received the December software update and are still experiencing dropped calls will need to use the Android Flash Tool and do a factory reset to revert to the previous software version.
Google launched the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro last October, presenting the first smartphone using the Tensor chip designed by Google. With its own hardware and software powering the device, the latest Pixels were designed to serve as Google’s answer to the iPhone.
