Google Play Store: Curious bug confuses users

The Google Play Store is causing confusion among users with an innovation. An update makes $500 appear that shouldn’t even be there.

The Google Play Store recently changed the design of the account menu in the app. But contrary to what was planned, this innovation caused astonishment among users. Because suddenly a Google Store credit value of 500 US dollars appeared – which actually shouldn’t even exist.

Clicking on the profile avatar in the top right corner of the page now takes you to a neat menu with new icons. The credit then appeared directly here.

However, this was not free money, but a simple UI bug. Because the credit didn’t really exist, reports “9to5Google”.

The error was reproduced three times. Attempts were made to make a purchase with the supposedly available credit – which failed every time. At the last step of the checkout process, the $500 disappeared again.
