The Google Play Store, formerly known as Android Market, is one of Android’s focal points as it provides access to millions of games and applications. Although this is not the only way to fill your phone (there are several other alternative application stores), it is often the simplest, and above all the most secure.

Note that the Play Store updates silently and you may already have the latest version. You can not only check it from app settings, but also force update it. This does not mean that you will have the latest version, however, as some deployments are gradual.
Please note that this manipulation concerns smartphones that are already certified by Google. Otherwise (on a Huawei P50 Pro for example), it is necessary to install Google Play Services, which is highly more complicated knowing that access to the system partition (normally locked in read-only) is necessary.

To check, launch the app, tap your Google account profile picture in the top right, then go to app settings.
