Bard can initially only be tested in the USA and Great Britain. According to Google, the expansion of the test to other countries and languages is planned. As soon as Bard is available in this country, all you have to do is visit bard.google.com and press the “Join waitlist” button.

Then you can register for the test with your Google account. Currently only a note is displayed that Bard is not yet available in Germany.

However, you can only participate if you meet the following requirements:

  • The Google account used must be a personal account. Workspace accounts are excluded from the Bard test.
  • You must be over 18
  • You can only try Bard in one of the following browsers: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, or Edgium.

Bard can currently do that

According to Google, you can currently use Bard to increase your productivity. For example, he can give tips on how to manage to read more books per year. He should also be able to explain quantum physics to you in simple terms and support you in producing texts.

The test version of Bard is currently still based on the research language model (LLM) LaMDA. However, Google wants to replace this with a more powerful model soon. The technology reacts to your input by analyzing which words follow most frequently in response to them.

That’s how bard works

Google points out that the technology is exciting, but not free from bugs. It feeds on information available on the Internet and can therefore reflect prejudices and stereotypes from the real world. Incorrect answers are also possible.

A false statement about the achievements of the James Webb Space Telescope in a promo clip for Bard sent Google stock plummeting in early February. According to Google, however, the AI should steadily improve the more people use it.

Also interesting…

While you can’t try Bart in Germany yet, here in Germany you can explore distant cities in a new and impressive way with the Google Maps Immersive View.
