Excellent news: Google will finally offer you the possibility of signing your electronic documents.
You can now request or add signatures to official contracts directly from Google Docs.
You will be able to sign your important documents in Google Docs
It’s now been more than a year since the Mountain View firm first expressed its desire to help individual entrepreneurs and small businesses by integrating the ability to sign electronic documents in Google Docs. This Wednesday, August 9, the American giant announced the deployment of this new feature in open beta version for individual Workspace subscribers and in beta version for Google Workspace customers. Note that no additional registration is required on your part to benefit from the functionality.
Here is what Google said in a blog post published yesterday: For sole traders and small businesses, keeping track of contracts, customer agreements, and other binding documents can be difficult. To help streamline this workflow, we natively integrate eSignature into Google Docs, allowing you to request and add signatures to official contracts, directly in Google Docs. “.
A gradual deployment starting August 8
According to Google, the main advantages of electronic signature in Google Docs are:
- Quickly request signatures, view the status of pending signatures, and search for completed contracts.
- Sign an official contract directly from Google Drive without having to switch apps or tabs.
- Create a new copy of the contract for each request so that you can use your document as a template and initiate multiple e-signature requests.
In its blog post, the American firm confirmed the support of new options coming for the eSignature later this year. For example, you will be able to request a signature from several users, including if they do not use Gmail. You will also be able, if you wish, to initiate an electronic signature on PDF files stored in Drive. Finally, note that individual Workspace subscribers will have to wait up to 15 days (from the date of August 8, 2023) before seeing the feature.
