Google markets its Pixel 6
and Pixel 6 Pro
since the end of last year. Barring cataclysm, the company will soon expand this family with the Pixel 6a. According to Max Jambor, the smartphone would land in just over three months, in May 2022.

The smartphone would thus be part of the tradition of the Pixel 3a, launched in May 2019, while the Pixel 4a and Pixel 5a had been desired until August.

Pixel 3a and 6a may prefer

The Pixel 6a has been rumored for several weeks. We have already been able to discover two shots of this model last November and December. If its launch during the year was hardly in doubt, some were counting on a release during the summer, in August. An altogether logical prediction, since the previous models of Pixel a, the 5a and 4a, had made their debut at this time (respectively August 17, 2020 and August 26, 2021).

Good news for the most impatient, therefore, who would not have to wait so long for the Pixel 6. In terms of timing, the Pixel 6a would rather follow in the tradition of the Google Pixel 3a, the latter being released on May 15, 2019 .

Google Tensor SoC and fingerprint sensor under the screen retained

As it stands, the specs of the Pixel 6a are still pretty hazy. Obviously less high-end than its two big brothers, it will lose some of their strengths, but should keep the same design, the Google Tensor SoC as well as the fingerprint sensor under the screen, a first for a Pixel a. Concretely, the 6a would measure 152.2 x 71.8 x 8.7 mm and sport a 6.2-inch OLED screen.

On the other hand, on the photo sensor side, it would not be entitled to those making the excellence of the Google Pixel 6. It would inherit a main sensor of the same ilk as the Pixel 4, 4a and Pixel 5: a 12.2 model Mpx, the Sony IMX363 apparently, combined with a 12 Mpx ultra wide angle sensor, the Sony IMX355. Finally, no change in the selfie camera, still 8 Mpx.
