To give a new challenge to this winter, GoPro is launching a competition, “Line of the Winter”, encouraging skiers and snowboarders to enhance their videos. Up for grabs are several rewards totaling $120,000.
The world leader in action cameras, GoPro, announced on Monday January 29 the launch of a winter competition, called “Line of the Winter”. The competition invites winter sports enthusiasts to submit their most spectacular video clips, all filmed using a GoPro camera of course, for a chance to win part of the $120,000 up for grabs. GoPro launches its snowy video competition
We’ve done a little digging into the contest rules, and to enter, volunteer skiers and snowboarders must share unedited clips (you don’t have to touch your file) on social media, using the hashtag #GoProLineOfTheWinter. You must submit the videos via the GoPro Quick application, or via the dedicated GoPro site (you will find the link in the source).
Each video constitutes an entry in its own right. But it is entirely possible to submit multiple videos. “ Participants can post as many videos as they want », Specifies GoPro.
Nick Woodman, the boss and founder of the American company, seems very proud to launch this competition. “ GoPro cameras have captured some of the craziest skiing and snowboarding videos, from Travis Rice’s incredible descents to Colby Stevenson’s daring stunts », Enthuses the manager.
Multiple chances to be rewarded
The competition will run from January to April. Each month, GoPro will distribute prizes of $10,000 to the skier and snowboarder who deliver the best video, for a total of $80,000. In May, the big winners will be chosen from the eight videos awarded so far. The winners will each take home $20,000. This is a lucrative opportunity for winter sports enthusiasts to see their talent rewarded.
The competition is aimed at all skill levels, encouraging creativity and originality. The videos can very well feature skiers in the middle of a descent, or amateurs performing new acrobatic tricks.
