GPS tracking – AirPods led police to two thieves

Two thieves were arrested with the help of GPS tracking after a theft in Velden near the main train station in Graz. The men had stolen a travel bag that also contained the AirPods wireless headphones. The victim was able to locate the headphones with his mobile phone and put the police on the right track.

The two Hungarians had already hit a hotel lobby in Velden on Friday. They grabbed a holdall from a baggage car and fled. Because there were also a pair of AirPods in the bag, the 55-year-old and his accomplice (61) were quickly found. The victim, a holidaymaker (26) from Germany, simply used the GPS function and was able to locate his stolen headphones in Graz. The handcuffs finally clicked for the two Hungarians near the main station in Graz. They were arrested by the police. Further interrogations and surveys are still being carried out.
