Grand Theft Auto VI: Rockstar takes big steps until development ends

At the end of last year, Rockstar revealed the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI. An event somewhat spoiled by a leak allowing us to see the video a few hours in advance, but it’s clearly nothing compared to the enormous leak which hit the studio in 2022.

To avoid any security concerns until the official launch of GTA VIJenn Kolbe, publishing manager at Rockstarasked all its developers to stop teleworking and return to offices. A measure which obviously aims to avoid leaks, intentional or not, but this would notably have the other effect ofimprove productivity, citing “tangible advantages” to face-to-face work. Jenn Kolbe said in the email sent to employees:

By making these changes, we are now in the best position to deliver the next Grand Theft Auto at the level of quality and polish we know it requires, along with a release roadmap that matches the scale and to the ambition of the game.

The information was revealed by Jason Schreierjournalist at Bloombergwhich specifies in passing that employees of Rockstar are not happy with this change, which will be effective next April. The return to face-to-face undoubtedly heralds long hours of intensive development, crunchuntil the release of Grand Theft Auto VI in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Logically, the development of versions for PC and next generation consoles will be done immediately, leaving little respite for employees…
