An attic find, a clever purchase at the flea market or an estate has yielded many an impressive video game collection.

The game collection of a person’s grandmother (“KrisReed”) is now astonishing, as she publishes a photo of it in the online community Reddit.

The main part of the collection includes 20 Game Boy Advance handhelds, 1 Game Boy Color, 26! Modules of the game Wario Land 4 and 13 modules of Mario Pinball Land.

It’s a mystery why the grandmother bought so many copies of two specific games and a Game Boy model. “KrisReed” writes about the image of the collection: “We are not sure if she knew how to overwrite existing saves.”

Possible reasons for this stock purchase

It would be important to know when the grandmother bought everything, because after so many years the batteries for the save states might no longer work. Maybe saving was no longer possible for some modules, so she bought more games in the hope that it would still work.

Maybe she also wanted to have multiple saves at the same time and always have the option to play the first levels. “KrisReed” has no clue himself. However, he adds that she left several printed tutorials from online websites for the grandchildren.

This shows that she should have played with passion. Maybe the two titles were her favorite games and she took every opportunity to get copies cheaply. As we all know, buying games can also be fun.

There are other explanations that could apply here, but we probably won’t know the real reason.

Value of the collection manageable

If KrisReed decides to sell, it will not result in five-figure sums. The rare games are missing. Wario Land 4 and Mario Pinball Land are each available on eBay for around 20 euros. A Game Boy Advance SP (2003) sells for 60 to 90 euros. With luck, KrisReed could get a total of around 2,000 euros for it, but perhaps the person doesn’t want to part with the collection for personal reasons.
