Getting hold of new Nvidia graphics cards at an RRP is currently almost impossible. But even if PC gamers manage to pull off this feat, they should be in for a nasty surprise with the next drop – because Nvidia has raised the prices without further ado.
RTX graphics cards are getting more expensive: Nvidia is turning the price screw
Do you remember the launch of Nvidia’s new RTX 3000 graphics cards? An RTX 3070 was advertised with an RRP of 499 euros, the RTX 3080 should cost 699 euros and the price tag of the RTX 3090 was 1,499 euros. As early as spring 2021, Nvidia then increased the prices for the first time between 20 and 50 euros – but that does not seem to have been enough for the graphics card company.
Because if you take a look at the official Nvidia shop, you will find that the prices of the current RTX models have increased again. Depending on the model, buyers have to shell out between 20 and 100 euros more:
- RTX 3090: Price increases from 1,549 1,649 euros
- RTX 3080 Ti: Price increases from 1,199 1,269 euros
- RTX 3080: Price increases from 719 759 euros
- RTX 3070 Ti: Price increases from 619 649 euros
- RTX 3070: Price increases from 519 549 euros
- RTX 3060 Ti: Price increases from 419 439 euros
According to information from ComputerBase, various Nvidia retailers have been advised to take the price adjustments into account for the next drop (source: ComputerBase).

Nvidia’s explanation: Price increase triggered by inflation
The same report also contains Nvidia’s official explanation for the price increase: The company reports that it has decided to increase the price to respond to inflation. In 2021, this was a proud 5 percent in Europe and 3.1 percent in Germany.
Depending on the model, the prices of the graphics cards have increased by 5 to 6.5 percent. So Nvidia is making additional profit from these changes. In addition, the price adjustment is another slap in the face for many players. It remains to be seen whether this price adjustment by Nvidia will ultimately also affect the custom models. The prices on the open market are already 80 percent above the RRP anyway. We’ll keep you up to date.
