Great Britain: Drivers of eight railway companies vote to strike

LONDON (Reuters) – Train drivers at eight British rail companies have voted to strike over a pay dispute, train drivers’ union Aslef said on Monday, as the threat of further disruption looms. on the UK transport network.

Aslef said members of Arriva Rail London, Chiltern Railways, Great Western, LNER, Northern Trains, Southeastern, TransPennine Express and West Midlands Trains voted to strike.

“We believe that no worker in this country should take pay cuts year after year just because this government has let inflation rise,” said Mick Whelan, general secretary of Aslef.

No date has yet been announced for the strike.
