“Great fear of humiliation”
Robert Pattinson reveals deep-seated career worries

Even established Hollywood stars like Robert Pattinson are plagued by self-doubt and existential fear, as he now confessed.
Actor Robert Pattinson (37) is often known on screen as a self-confident hero – be it at the beginning of his Hollywood career in the “Twilight” saga or most recently in the dark superhero film “The Batman”. In a new interview, however, the star revealed how much self-doubt he has when choosing a new role: “I have a deep, deep fear of humiliation,” “Interview” magazine quotes the actor.
He always wants to give his all for his part, but is constantly accompanied by the fear that he won’t be able to do it. In the end, no one cares what caused this failure: “You just know that it will reflect on you. Of course you can say that the script was shit or that the director was an ass, […] but at the end of the day no one cares about the reasons. You are the one that everyone will say was bad. And a lot of people will say that even though you’ve done your best.”
He also has existential fears
It’s not the first time that Pattinson has shared deep insights into his fears and worries as an actor. In 2020, for example, he said to GQ magazinethat he was also plagued by existential fears – one reason why he turned down smaller, more ambitious indie films: “The problem was that no one would watch them, no matter how much I liked the films I made.”
Although Hollywood’s dream factory is often glorified from the outside, Pattinson at least struggles with very worldly concerns there: “I keep thinking about the fact that you’re going to spend most of your life unemployed and desperate and feeling like a complete failure. ” So you are exposed to maximum stress when filming is in progress – and you feel even emptier between two projects.
