great images for Arkane’s next big game

Blade, the next big Marvel game, reveals a little more after its announcement at the Game Awards 2023 with new images. It makes you want to play it, and you will quickly understand why.

The Game Awards 2023 ceremony was not only used to award prizes to various games. It was also an opportunity to discover new trailers. Sometimes it was for games we already knew. But there were also unfamiliar faces in the battalion, like Blade. This is Arkane Lyon’s latest creation, and it has just been revealed more on the Web.

Concept art for Blade

As a reminder, this third-person action-adventure game will put us in the shoes of Blade. If you don’t know him, know that he is a legendary vampire hunter in the Marvel universe. He first appeared in 1973’s The Tomb of Dracula #10, and was credited to Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan. In truth, he is a dhampir, a human-vampire hybrid with superhuman abilities that impact his strength, speed, agility, etc. He is also a swordsman and sniper. With such powers and abilities, it promises some great action sequences.

The adventure will take place in a Paris a little different from the one we know today. Until now, we couldn’t really move forward on the subject, but it is now possible thanks to concept art revealed by the studio. We see Blade observing the city on a rooftop, preparing to infiltrate somewhere, and in the middle of a fight against what appears to be a swarm of bats. So yes, these are not in-game images, it’s still a little early, but it gives an idea of the tone of the atmosphere. And clearly, it makes you want it.

An Xbox Series exclusive?

Blade has been in the news a lot recently, but not necessarily for the right reasons. In fact, it caused debate in the community following a rumor. You may be aware that Arkane Lyon is part of Bethesda Softworks, itself under the aegis of Microsoft. So, is the game going to be an Xbox Series X/S exclusive? VG247 requested clarification from Bethesda, who declined to comment at this time. This is not reassuring for the PS5.

This is reminiscent of the situation in Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds 2. The latter was announced on Xbox Series X/S and PC, but PS5 availability remains pending. Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, will have the last word. Obviously, Marvel’s Blade is not quite in the same situation, particularly because it is a new intellectual property. We hope to know more in the coming months.
