Police have seized 260,000 amphetamine pills on the beaches of two Greek islands.

The Greek coast guard has seized several sacks of amphetamine pills containing the active ingredient Captagon on the beaches of the islands of Rhodes and Kastellorizo. The packaging of the drugs caused confusion. In the big sacks, the pills were found packed in plastic bags between 350 and 450 grams. A swastika is depicted in a circle on a gold background.
The police said on Monday that there were around 260,000 pills in total. It can be assumed that these are several sacks from a much larger transport. Whether the drugs have anything to do with right-wing extremism remained open.
Symbol for right-wing extremism or transcendence?
Unlike in National Socialism, the arms of the swastika point counterclockwise. In Japan, for example, this symbol can be found on maps and marks Buddhist temples there. The symbol could also be a symbol for mind-expanding drugs – in Zen Buddhism, mediation and experiencing the present moment are the focus.
Captagon is the brand name of the amphetamine derivative fenetylline, an active ingredient from the amphetamine group. Fenetylline can be abused as a stimulant intoxicant and doping agent. According to media reports, fake Captagon was widely used in the Syrian civil war. However, according to scientific studies, these tablets often do not contain fenetylline, but other stimulants and active ingredients.
