Grégoire’s Christmas interview: “My children draw pictures for Santa Claus”

At a time when homes have just celebrated Christmas, we continue our holiday saga. As a reminder, for this end of the year, Gala.fr asked several stars to talk about Christmas. A souvenir, a gift… Let’s forget the time for an interview this year which was rich in emotions. The singer Grégoirewho will release his new album entitled Vivre on January 26, agreed to take part in the Christmas interview.

Gala.fr: Has Santa Claus ever disappointed you?
Gregory
: He has never disappointed me. I don’t remember where I was expecting a particular gift. I wasn’t very demanding per se. I was aware of how lucky I was to have gifts. I love her so much.

Gala.fr: This year, what does your Christmas list consist of?
Gregory
: You know, everyone asks me that. There are a lot of books. I never get tired of it. The more time passes, the more I ask for very useful things that allow me to make music or creations. For example, things that I could use for cooking. Sometimes there are movies.

Gala.fr: For a Christmas meal, what is the essential food?
Gregory
: I’ll say salmon. In fact, it was really the only Christmas food at my grandparents’ and parents’ house. This is something that seems obvious to me. Afterwards, what really pleases me is the log.

Gala.fr: The kitsch Christmas sweater, are you for or against it?
Gregory
: I am for. I find that funny. I like the fact that people like to ridicule each other. It’s quite fun. I really like the United States for many things, especially for its self-deprecating side and for Christmas. I like the big fir trees and the wreath on the door. I love this whole atmosphere. So the sweater makes me laugh. My wife finds them ugly but that’s what’s funny. At least we’re laughing.

Gala.fr: What is your favorite Christmas song?
Gregory:
Small Santa, I really like its melody. She’s really cute. Otherwise, for a song in English, I will say All I want for Christmas is you by Mariah Carey.

Gala.fr: What is the Christmas memory that is anchored in you?
Gregory
: I will pass on the memories to you as parents because I am not necessarily objective towards my children. When I was a child, with my cousins, we waited for midnight on my grandparents’ stairs. We were waiting for Santa Claus to come by. In fact, every Christmas, I waited for this moment of reunion and anticipation. I arrived and I loved putting on the shoes. I love all these kinds of little details.

Gala.fr: Is the Christmas tree installed on December 1st or… on the wire, just before Christmas?
Gregory
: From December 1st and we are doing it well. The more the years go by, the more I want it to be majestic. When we bring back the tree and put up the garlands, we have a great time. We also do nursery. As soon as the cold begins to fall, we put these rituals in place. We decorate the house and add something new every year. We even keep the tree for quite a long time afterwards because we are in this dynamic.

Gala.fr: Does having children allow you to rediscover the Christmas spirit?
Gregory
: Of course. Every day there is the Advent calendar. There’s all this dynamic which is great.

Gala.fr: Besides, what did your children ask Santa Claus for?
Gregory:
We’re still pretty into Barbies and Legos. There are probably records. And there are also books. They really like comics. It’s so cute because they are asking for a gift for their brother or sister. They even make drawings for Santa Claus, it’s great!

Gala.fr: What is the best gift we could give you?
Gregory
: Already, it’s health. Knock on wood because I have it. I think that’s what’s most important. Today, with everything that is happening, I want to say peace in the world. And, selfishly, that my album is doing really well. I asked three things (he’s laughing).

Gala.fr: After Christmas, it’s the transition to the new year. How do you view 2024?
Gregory
: I try to stay positive. We must try to move forward as best as possible in this world by ensuring that we are the most fulfilled, the happiest and see things positively all the time. And we must also try to protect the people we love from suffering.
