Grey’s Anatomy on TF1: everything you need to know to understand tonight’s shock episode

TF1 is broadcasting a crossover episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” this Wednesday evening, the first part of which, taking place in “Station 19”, will not be broadcast on the channel. In order to better understand the stakes of this episode, a brief summary is in order.

Since the 2018 launch of Station 19, Grey’s Anatomy and its spin-off have been the scene of numerous crossovers, with the two series airing back-to-back on ABC. Since then, the two series have gone hand in hand, with many characters from one appearing in the other.

Unfortunately for the French public, TF1 does not always respect the American broadcasting rhythm, making certain episodes of the medical series incomprehensible for viewers. This was the case for episode 7 of season 17 of Grey’s Anatomy which was the scene of the tragic death of Andrew DeLuca.

And that will also be the case for episode 5 of season 18 broadcast this Wednesday evening from 9:55 p.m. on TF1. In order to better understand the issues, a short summary of episode 5 of season 5 of Station 19 is necessary.

A new drama in the universe of Grey’s Anatomy

Things we lost in the Fire” starts off quite normal (for a Shonda Rhimes series, of course). Dean Miller (Okieriete Onaodowan), who is still in love with Vic (Barrett Doss), plans to move to Oakland to start Crisis One, a program he created to send non-violent first responders – to the place of police officers – to intervene in emergency situations.

But when he offers the young woman to accompany him on this new adventure, the station is shaken by an explosion: a gas pipe has been cut during work in a residential area.

As firefighters rush to the scene of the blaze, Vic, who is spraying water from the top of a tall ladder, is electrocuted by a broken electrical wire and finds herself unconscious, suspended several feet above of the ground. Miller rushes up the ladder to administer mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, which saves her.

Dean Miller (Okieriete Onaodowan)

Once back on solid ground, he entrusts Vic to his comrades and returns to the field to evacuate the inhabitants of the district before everything explodes. He then discovers that a house has been torn from its foundations and that it risks being filled with gas.

Before he had a chance to warn his comrades, it exploded with several victims. Andy’s squad captain Aquino (Alain Uy) is impaled and requires emergency surgery, while Beckett (Josh Randall) is blown away in the blast. Dean, meanwhile, is seriously injured.

While being transported by ambulance to Gray Sloan, Ben (Jason George) spends the entire trip giving him cardiac massage in order to revive him. As the episode ends, one question remains unanswered: will Dean make it?

It is in episode 5 of season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy that viewers will discover the fate reserved for this emblematic character of Station 19. With the key sequences rich in emotion, and many upheavals to be expected for several franchise characters.
