Flood made his debut in season 16. In season 17, he was promoted to lead man. Speaking to US magazine Deadline, the actor said: “Three years on the show felt right to me and I think with all the developments in the story, the character’s arc is probably coming to its natural end, which is great was. I was very happy that everyone felt the same way.”

Flood said he was very happy with his exit as he felt it was the right time. He wants to see what else is out there, develop in different directions and do different types of TV and film.

When asked what would have become of Cormac and Meredith, Flood said: “Would they have gotten together or not? If they had gotten together properly it would have worked? I think the fans would have liked to see more of that dynamic – that’s the reaction anyway that I get – but it’s not for me to say.”

Skylar Astin joins Grey’s Anatomy as Richard Flood leaves the series. He will play Todd Eames, the brother of a pregnant patient. We’ll tell you how you can already see the new episodes of the ABC cult series in Germany.
