Grey’s Anatomy: Will Owen Hunt be back in season 19? Kevin McKidd responds

The finale of season 18 of “Grey’s Anatomy” was rich in twists, and left the fate of certain characters in suspense, like Owen Hunt. During an interview, his interpreter confirmed that he would be back in season 19.

The finale of season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy, broadcast last May in the United States, was marked by the hasty departure of many characters, thus casting doubt on the return of certain actors in the new burst of episodes.

This is the case of Kevin McKidd, who has been camping for several years now with Dr. Owen Hunt. In season 18, he decided to help seriously ill veterans by providing them with medicine so that they could end their days with dignity.

But in the last episode of the season, his secret was discovered. Bailey then gave the doctor time to leave the hospital before calling the police. Owen then picked up his wife and children and went to the airport for an unknown destination.

With the arrival of five new characters for this next season 19, fans of Grey’s Anatomy were entitled to wonder if Kevin McKidd was going to leave the medical series in which he has been present for 14 years.

In an interview with the American magazine People, the actor has confirmed his presence in the next burst of episodes, without specifying how the return of his character will be justified. “I think he’s going to have to deal with the fallout from those acts. He did something noble last year, but he bent the rules and has to pay the price”, he explained.

He’s already paid a hefty price, but what’ll be interesting is to see how it all pans out, since he’s not yet out of the inn. He has to go out on his own.” Owen Hunt is therefore not at the end of his troubles. But how will the writers justify his return? How is the doctor going to continue to practice medicine? Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy should answer these questions.

Back to basics

During this same interview, Kevin McKidd also returned to the arrival of 5 new residents at Gray Sloan, which will mark a renewal for the medical series. “We welcomed this group of new interns, who are camped by brilliant, young and dynamic actors,” he confided.

It’s almost like going back to the beginning of the series. We’re not really doing a reboot, but this arrival is reminiscent of the pilot episode where Sandra Oh and TR Knight entered the hospital. We’re going to redo this scene a bit. It’s very exciting

As a reminder, this season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy will mark a big change in the history of the series. Niko Terho, Adelaide Kane (Reign), Midori Francis, Harry Shum Jr. (Glee) and Alexis Floyd will join the cast as five new residents of Gray Sloan Memorial while Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey, announced that she will only appear in 8 of the 22 episodes of this new season.

Grey’s Anatomy will return to American screens on October 6th. In France, season 18, interrupted by TF1 only 5 episodes from the end, should return to the air in early 2023, when the front page will be able to offer season 19 in stride.
