Grimes and Elon Musk welcomed their second child together in December. Her daughter was born with the help of a surrogate mother.
The singer Grimes (33) and the Tesla boss Elon Musk (50) became parents of a girl in December via surrogacy. The Canadian musician has that revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair. For Claire Elise Boucher, her real name, and Musk, it is already the second child together.
Her daughter’s name is Exa Dark Sideræl Musk. However, she simply calls her offspring Y. Exa is an allusion to the supercomputer term exaFLOPS and Dark would represent the unknown. The 33-year-old also explains her choice of name with the words: “Dark matter is the beautiful mystery of our universe.” Her one-year-old son X, whose full name is X Æ A-Xii, also has an unusual name.
After numerous rumors of separation, Grimes also commented on the current relationship status of the two: “There is no right word for it. I would probably call him my partner, but we are very changeable.” They wouldn’t live in the same house and still see each other all the time. They are also “best friends”. “We just have our own thing going on and I don’t expect other people to understand it,” says the new mom.
His first daughter
Despite everything, their relationship is at its peak. She and the entrepreneur would even plan to have more children. “We’ve always wanted at least three or four,” Grimes said. Musk has been a father seven times: with his first wife, the Canadian writer Justine Musk (49), to whom he was married from 2000 to 2008, he has five sons. However, the couple’s firstborn child died in infancy. In 2010, the SpaceX boss married British actress Talulah Riley (36). The childless marriage initially lasted until 2012. From 2013 to 2016 the two were married again. The 50-year-old has been in a relationship with Grimes since 2018.
