Grimme Prize 2020: The award must be canceled with a "heavy heart"

The Grimme Institute in Marl, North Rhine-Westphalia, is responding to the corona epidemic: the 56th Grimme Prize is not awarded on March 27, 2020 as planned. This emerges from a press release published on Wednesday on the official website. "The safety of the participants in this year's Grimme award ceremony is our top priority," said Dr. Frauke Gerlach, managing director of the Grimme Institute, quoted in it.

The decision was made "with a heavy heart", but the company wanted to make its "contribution to curbing the progressive spread of the corona virus". Gerlach is sorry for the award cancellation, especially for the award winners, she emphasizes. It is currently being examined whether, when and in what form the award ceremony can be rescheduled.
