Grimme Prize 2024: These are this year’s nominations

The renowned Grimme Prize will be awarded for the 60th time on April 26th. Now those responsible have announced this year’s nominations. 64 productions were selected from more than 750 submissions in four categories. As in previous years, content from public broadcasters dominates this year: more than half of the nominations go to ARD productions alone. But private television as well as pay TV and streaming providers can also look forward to twelve nominations.

Disney+ and Warner TV have chances

Disney+ is there with three productions in the first year after the launch of its local offering developed in Germany: The series “Deutsches Haus” and “Sam – Ein Sachse” have a chance of winning a prize in the fiction competition. ARD dominates with 33 nominations

Once again, the number of nominations for productions by public broadcasters is not surprising. The ARD is represented by a total of 33 candidates. In the fiction category, the drama “37 Seconds” (ARD) and the ZDF production “Ich bin! Margot Friedländer” about the life story of the 101-year-old Holocaust survivor, among others, have a chance.

The only non-public broadcast nominees in this category are “Jung & Naiv Episode #650 with the economic historian Adam Tooze” and Joko Winterscheidt (45) with his Prime Video production “Joko Winterscheidt Presents – The World’s Most Dangerous Show” – It would be the fifth Grimme Prize for the entertainer.

The makers of the Sky documentary series “Juan Carlos. Love, Money, Betrayal” and the team of the cultural reportage format “Tracks East” (ZDF/arte) are nominated for the special award.

RTL has been nominated twice for entertainment

In the entertainment category, the Cologne broadcaster RTL scored two nominations: “The Traitors – Trust Nobody!” and “Prison Tapes.” The public broadcasters are in the running here with, among others, “Bosetti Late Night” (Turbokultur for ZDF/3sat) and “Der SECOND SHORT COURSE” (btf ​​for WDR/SWR).

Well-known classics such as “The Show with the Mouse Special – Morocco Mouse” (WDR) and the RTL production “New Stories from Pumuckl” are also nominated in the children’s category. In the youth category, the ARD magazine “akkurat” and the radio format “TRU DOKU”, among others, can hope for prizes.
