Obsidian Studios didn’t just have the new kid Penance to be presented to Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022. He took the opportunity to announce a great step forward in the history of Groundedits cooperative survival game with miniaturized heroes facing necessarily disproportionate insects.
Good news for fans and the curious, Grounded will upgrade to 1.0 in September 2022which means that he will leave his Early Access to pass in the big leagues. The campaign will then be fully playable, including the appearance of an environment called Upper Garden containing a dangerous praying mantis. This so-called “final” version should also mark the beginning of the end of additional content…
At Obsidian, we’ve enjoyed watching over 10 million players survive in the backyard for nearly two years. You’ve faced countless mosquitoes, nimble argyronets (you know, those spiders that really live in water), and deadly bosses like the fearsome Spider Queen (Broodmother). In Grounded, you assembled armor sets to increase your chances of survival, customized your weapons to match your playstyle, and used your skills to build bases and defend against hordes of insects. Your achievements are admirable and all those hours of play have also given us incredible feedback, which will have made the final version of Grounded even better, for its release in September.
This will contain the 12 updates already released during the early access period, but you will also be able to experience the entire mysterious history of Grounded and understand why you have been shrunk. Find out how the teenagers got to the garden and get to know the mad scientist behind their misadventure in the campaign playable both solo and co-op with friends.
This final version 1.0 will also open up a whole new part of the world of Grounded: the upper garden. This section will always offer more places to explore as well as new armor recipes, weapons and secrets that we are not going to reveal today so as not to spoil the surprise. Well, maybe we can entrust you with one… The praying mantis, an insect that our incredible community has been asking for for a long time, will appear in the garden as a new boss! It may be she who will cause your loss…
