Announced earlier than expected on the night of December 4 to 5 via a trailer, GTA 6 attracted all the attention to himself for several days. But the man we know by the nickname “Joker from Florida” still has a grudge against Rockstar Games, and is demanding compensation.

More than 10 years after the release of GTA 5, Rockstar has finally taken the plunge and made GTA 6 official through a 91-second trailer. A video which sets the scene, and which parodies numerous scenes seen on social networks. However, a person who inspired one of the characters in the trailer did not appreciate this free publicity stunt at all and made it known.

The Florida Joker wants money, a lot of money

At the beginning of December, Rockstar Games published a simple tweet, giving us an appointment on December 5 at 3 p.m. to discover the first trailer for the next opus of the GTA license. Unfortunately, the latter leaked and the studio decided to immediately publish said video. For 91 seconds, the public discovers the new face of Vice City, the main characters Lucia and Jason and fake videos inspired by real content that went viral, all to the sound of the song Love is a Long Road by Tom Petty.

In this video, we see a man with a tattooed face, who has just been arrested by the sheriff’s office. Immediately, the public recognizes him as Lawrence Sullivan, a man who became famous on the Internet thanks to his mugshot in which his appearance evokes the Joker from DC Comics. Considering he’s part of the game’s marketing campaign, Lawrence Sullivan said he wants two million dollars in compensation, and he wouldn’t hesitate to go to court.

Now, the person concerned poses an ultimatum to Rockstar Games. In a new video relayed by Culture Crave on X (formerly Twitter), he declares:

You are all playing with my intelligence. This is my final warning. I spoke to my lawyers, we sent you a letter and we are still waiting for a response. Now I’m asking for five million dollars. If you don’t respond to me by my birthday on January 11th, we will take legal action. Rockstar, go talk to your daddy, and give me my money. »

The previous Lindsay Lohan

The GTA 6 trailer caused quite a stir, and has already been viewed more than 162 million times on YouTube. So many people who saw the caricatured face of Lawrence Sullivan. However, the “Joker from Florida” approach has little chance of succeeding. If he says he has solid evidence and it has nothing to do with it, his case is very reminiscent of the case between Rockstar and Lindsay Lohan. The American actress, model and singer attacked the studio because of an artwork that caricatured a famous photo of her.

American justice did not reject the accusation, but had asserted the First Amendment which protects works of fiction through freedom of expression. If Lawrence Sullivan follows the same path, he therefore has every chance of being dismissed. Regardless, Rockstar has not responded to the video, nor should it. Regularly attacked, the studio is armed for this type of situation.
