GTA 6: these 6 easter eggs that you must have missed

The very first trailer for GTA 6 was released by Rockstar Games on the night of December 4-5. Beyond certain easily identifiable references, there are also very subtle references. Have you spotted them all?

There are the details that we see at first glance, then there are the others. The trailer for GTA 6 was officially released on December 4, 2023. In one minute and a half, Rockstar Games did not have time to show much – and that is surely intentional. Above all, we discovered Lucia, the first (anti) female heroine in the history of the saga, and her lover Jason, with whom she will probably commit the worst crimes and offenses.

However, we must not ignore the meticulousness of the fans, who dissected these first images of GTA 6to extract the easter eggs the most discreet. As the Numerama editorial team loves hidden references, we didn’t hesitate to aggregate them as well, by snooping around on specialized forums and Reddit.

1. Florida Man becomes Leonida Man

GTA 6 will be set in Vice City, a fictional city that closely resembles Miami, in a fictional American state called Leonida. Leonida is therefore logically the equivalent of Florida. In an extract shown in the trailer, we see that the expression Leonida Man comes up several times. This is a reference to Florida Man, a meme from the early 2010s that referenced the prevalence of news headlines using the phrase “ a man from Florida » associated with an erratic, absurd or dangerous act. In the trailer for GTA 6, we can read for example: “ A man sucked in by a sea tornado asks the city to buy him a suit. »

2. The CHEETAH is back

An iconic car made a notable appearance in the trailer: the Cheetah has been a playable super sports car since GTA III. It is THE iconic car of GTA Vice City. Here we see the inscription CH33TAH on a license plate.

3. The Leonida Joker really exists

During the video, we see a report on the arrest of a “Leonida Joker”, a man tattooed like the famous Batman antagonist. This is a reference to the Florida Joker, a man who really exists and who was indeed arrested. Another notable fact: there is, in reality, not just one Florida Joker, but several. Proof of this is, if necessary, that Florida is indeed a separate space-time… Will there be several Leonida Jokers in the game?

4. The woman with the hammers does exist

The GTA 6 trailer heavily features a woman in a dressing gown, carrying a hammer in each hand and exclaiming: “ Well, look who’s back! » If we do not know the role she will occupy in the video game (a simple NPC, or a real story linked to the main characters?), it should be noted that her look is inspired by an American, who attacked well his neighbors’ car with a hammer. An Internet user quickly found the image and posted it on Reddit.

5. The yellow car in front of the Ocean View Hotel

Some very attentive spectators spotted a yellow car parked not far from the Ocean View Hotel, in a quick, but very detailed, shot of the trailer… It’s no coincidence! She was already present in Vice City, in exactly the same place. It’s actually a reference to a real car, nicknamed the Oldsmobile, which is always parked in front of the Avalon Hotel, a legendary place in Miami.

You have to zoom in to see it, but it’s there.

6. The heroine wears an electronic bracelet

If it is not a “reference” strictly speaking, it is an important small object, which was immediately spotted by Internet users on the official poster of the game. Lucia, the first playable female character in the history of GTA, is under judicial control and obliged to wear an electronic bracelet. This detail is important, because it will likely allow the game to justify banning its protagonist from leaving the city. Practical for keeping a character on the map of a game!
