Seven additional people were arrested on Wednesday morning February 2 in Guadeloupe during an operation carried out as part of the investigation into the attack in November on a customs office during which several weapons were stolen, announced the Pointe-à-Pitre Public Prosecutor’s Office. They are “suspected of having actively participated in the attack on the customs office and the maritime gendarmerie in November”, he tweeted. These arrests took place in the context of a “gendarmerie operation this morning in Pointe-à-Pitre and (to) Throat”, involving the research section with the support of the GIGN, mobile gendarmes and the intervention squad, according to this source. Five people, including a minor, had already been indicted in this case.

During urban violence on the night of November 19 to 20, at the start of a protest movement against the health pass and the vaccination obligation which extended to social demands, several weapons were stolen: “Half a dozen automatic weapons, a submachine gun and a shotgun”, had then detailed the commander of the research section, Lieutenant-Colonel Joël Kerleau. In particular, the authors used “a forklift” for “to enter by force” in this room from where “two chests” had been stolen, he added.
Only one weapon has been found so far.
