Guardians of the Galaxy: How much weight did Chris Pratt lose for this movie?

Released in cinemas in 2014, the film entitled Guardians of the Galaxyworn by Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and bradley cooperwill be rebroadcast on Sunday October 30, 2022, from 9:05 p.m. on TF1. Directed by James Gunn, this blockbuster begins on Earth, in 1988, with the young Peter Jason Quill who visits his mother in the hospital. She has terminal cancer. She gives Peter a gift then dies. Peter runs away in tears, before being sucked into a spaceship. 26 years later, Peter, portrayed on screen by Chris Pratt, arrives on an abandoned planet called Morag. He became Star-Lord, an outlaw who works with the Ravagers, a band of mercenaries.

Equipped with various gadgets and his precious walk-man, he steals an orb and flees after a short fight against Korath’s men, who works for a Kree named Ronan the Accuser. But the leader of the Ravagers, Yondu Udonta, discovers his larceny and offers a reward for his capture. Ronan promised Thanos the Mad Titan, one of the most powerful beings in the universe, to bring him the Orb, in exchange for which Thanos will reduce the planet Xandar, the capital of the Nova Empire in dust. Indeed, after a thousand years of war between the Nova Empire and the Kree Empire, which resulted in the signing of a peace treaty, Ronan wants to destroy Xandar to avenge the Kree people. He sends the slayer Gamora to retrieve the Orb.

For the record, Chris Pratt had to part with his curves to embody the character of Peter Quill, aka Star Lord. For six months, he followed a strict diet and training that enabled him to lose almost 30 pounds, and to obtain a perfect musculature. The actor had however explained that he had initially refused the role. But after some hesitation, he finally agreed.. However, Chris Pratt came out of the shooting of the film Delivery Man, why he had to gain weight. The producers, seduced by his audition, just asked him to resume a physique similar to the one he sports in Zero Dark Thirtyfacing forward Delivery Man.
