Guido Cantz already has concrete plans after his “Do you understand fun?” Farewell. In an interview, he revealed what was up to him.
This Saturday evening the last issue of “Do you understand fun?” (December 18, 8:15 p.m., the first) with moderator Guido Cantz (50) on the TV screens. From then on, entertainer Barbara Schöneberger (47) will lead through the popular format. Cantz’s final show was recorded back in October. Now that a little time has passed, the comedian can now say with a clear conscience: “The decision is right”, as he explains to the “Bild” newspaper in an interview.
To the conclusion, “Do you understand fun?” to leave after twelve years, it happened during the lockdown. “I turned 50 in August and I wrote my biography during the corona pandemic. That all led to me saying that there is another chapter to come,” he reveals.
Quiz show and mountain hike
His family has always supported him in his project, says Cantz: “Then dad will just moderate something else. That is not a problem.” Professionally, the next plan is to take part in a quiz show together with Günther Jauch (65) and Johannes B. Kerner (57). “We do not moderate, but are the candidates who have to compete against a quiz elite. The program can be seen next year on RTL.” Further projects with the broadcaster RTL are “not yet to be announced”.
In his private life, the 50-year-old is planning to “run across the Alps” in the coming year. “This year it was the E5 from Allgäu to Meran. Next year we plan to hike from Meran to Lake Garda,” Cantz concludes.
