In our “Ask Guido” series, our readers address their questions directly to the fashion icon. Today: How do I learn to love my post-baby body?

Doesn’t each of us wish for our own Guido? Who is there to help us with questions about our style? Well, unfortunately we can’t fulfill this wish of our dear readers – but at least we can give them something of the kind. Namely the opportunity to address your pressing questions directly to the fashion designer. If you would also like styling advice, a decoration tip or help with other topics – here you can find out how you can send your question to Guido.

Ask Guido: The smartest attire for an after-baby body

Today’s question is about the so-called after-baby body, i.e. the body of a person who has recently given birth to a child. Steffi writes about this:

I have an after-baby body – which styles are suitable for everyday use and still chic?

First of all: Of course, all body shapes are beautiful anyway and the post-baby body in particular deserves a lot of love and admiration from us, because after all it has allowed new life to grow in itself. Guido thinks so too, but as a fashion designer he naturally has one or two tricks up his sleeve to stage the body particularly skilfully.

“God save the pencil skirt! Because even if the woman has a little more breasts or buttocks, you can really do a lot with these skirts. Then, of course, there are all the beautiful shirt-blouse dresses, so the reader’s question calls for shirt-blouse dresses, you can still kill a belt if necessary or just a cloth. Best of all, they really do come in all qualities.

I also recommend floral patterns, I don’t know if she’s breastfeeding (yet), but that can of course be an advantage if you can’t see every spot through the pattern right away. And if you feel comfortable with it, you can also wear tight clothes, because tight fabrics also hold the whole thing together well. But unfortunately it’s not really suitable for summer.

What could also work well are more overalls and generally parts that are cut wide enough, maybe with an elastic in the middle, that can work very well. The important thing is that there is enough volume. Sandals can be wonderfully combined with them.

What I would advise against, however, are collars that are too big, rather deep décolletés, the arms please not too tight, no trousers with pockets, no small accessories such as handbags, bags, or small chains or earrings. Dear courage to greatness! In this way, the focus is directed to other parts of the outfit. And, of course, comfortable shoes. Most importantly, enjoy the child. Lying together on the blanket and collecting the enthusiastic comments of fellow human beings. You have to use the time, don’t you?”
