Fancy a change within your four walls – but no money? Guido Maria Kretschmer knows how to create a whole new living atmosphere with little tricks.

In the cold season, most of us automatically spend more time at home. It’s comfortable at first. Then a bit dull. And at some point you’ve looked at your own ceiling so much that it symbolically falls on your head. Suddenly we notice little things that are annoying: the carpet doesn’t go with the sofa at all. The curtains look washed out. And the chair has seen better days.

At some point you get tired of looking at even the most beloved furniture if you look at yourself every day – in times of the home office probably even 24 hours! – surrounded with them. But don’t worry, Guido Maria Kretschmer has one (actually even two) solutions for this case as well. Either you register with Guido’s Deco Queen. Or you can give your home a new look. And nobody has to throw themselves into the expense.

Renovations are expensive and currently, due to the numerous crises, most people prefer to keep their money together. Guido Maria Kretschmer tells us in an interview which cheap insider tips can have a big impact.

Guido Maria Kretschmer’s cheap insider tips

The designer advises consciously focusing on individual eye-catchers instead of redecorating the whole room: “It can simply be a good vase that you only buy one thing that changes the look a lot.” It is more about the individual piece itself and its placement than the mass. Quality before quantity is the motto. For vases, Guido recommends a large example, which in turn is equipped with reduced floristry and placed prominently on the table in the middle of the room. If you are not a fan of vases, you can achieve the same effect with new, consciously used light sources, such as a lamp as an eye-catcher.

“It doesn’t always have to be the complete makeover”says Guido Maria Kretschmer and goes on to talk about his personal favorite tip from home: “What is always the total add-on for me, of course, are textiles. It can be a sofa cover, a bedspread, or a rug—all of which can transform a space so quickly!”

So: it doesn’t always have to be the expensive new sofa – even a new throw can bring color and a breath of fresh air into your own four walls. And it gets cozy with a few new pillows and blankets.
