Guido Maria Kretschmer’s styling hacks for women with short legs

“The Peak Performance”
10 golden styling rules for women with short legs

Some have longer legs, others short. Guido Maria Kretschmer knows: it all depends on the styling. The designer gave us ten dos and don’ts in the fashion jungle for people with short legs.

Whether short or long – the main thing is that they carry us safely through life. Nevertheless, short legs occasionally present us with one or the other fashion challenge. Pants are cut and rolled up. And while maxi dresses look fantastic on models, small people like to sink into them like children in grandma’s kitchen apron. That’s frustrating. And Guido Maria Kretschmer knows that too: “Being a bit plump with short legs is almost the most difficult way to get dressed. It’s a top performance, so to speak!”, the designer sympathizes. Nevertheless, we don’t need to mope now: “Of course there are a few tricks here, too,” says Guido, and don’t worry – he’s also told us all about them.

6 doses for short legs

1.High waist

“You can wear a high waist, for example,” advises Guido. You can artificially lengthen the leg and at the same time emphasize the waist.

2. Platform shoes

Is that still a leg or already a shoe? Heels look good on people with short legs anyway, but they don’t have to be uncomfortable. So you can stand still, for example over platform soles.

3. Crop tops

Guido Maria Kretschmer also recommends special pieces for the upper body with short legs, “for example cropped things that pull up the figure.”

4. Bag yes, but please correct

“One should find a good pocket position,” warns Guido. Especially with small people, the bag tends to slip towards the buttocks – and pulls us down. It is therefore better to make sure that the handles are adjustable.

5. Culottes

And which trousers do you choose best with short legs? It can go on here, but please don’t get too long: “A culotte can help if you show the ankles,” is the recommendation from the designer himself, who has a matching shoe in mind: “These are also the women’s ankle boots, they’re good at it!”

6. Ablution

When it comes to jeans, the color matters, as Guido knows: “What always helps are washes that get lighter towards the front, for example.” And small details can also have a big effect on other pants: “Even small seams stretch.”

4 don’ts for short legs

1. Long blazers

No matter how modern they are, long blazers just don’t do anything for people with short legs. Incidentally, according to the designer, this applies to everything “that visually pulls downwards”, i.e. makes it smaller and bulkier.

2. Banging

It’s a good thing to hear: Skinny pants are not only uncomfortable, they are also not made for every figure. So you can confidently leave that to the grown-ups and rather make yourself comfortable. “With short legs, you’re not really the woman for little vinyl trousers and super-tight stories,” confirms Guido.

3. Maxi dresses

This is heartbreaking for some of us because they look absolutely gorgeous in shop windows and on others – but maxi dresses and skirts aren’t necessarily made for short legs. “You should rather avoid these big floral dresses,” advises Guido, “you can wear skirts, but maxi is not the right thing for short legs.” But as always, the main thing is that you feel good! If necessary, something will be shortened.

4. Chunky shoes

We have already learned from Guido – ankle boots plus culottes are a dream combination for short legs. And in this match, it’s better to leave the big boots to others. At the end, Guido also has a shoe tip for small people: “And please don’t wear shoes that are too bulky! The little delicate ones can stay small and delicate.”

Thank you, Guido!
