Since 2008, Guillaume Durand has hosted the Radio Classique morning show, after a long career in television. But because of his health concerns, he was replaced by Dimitri Pavlenko last May. Ten days after his replacement, the journalist gave the reasons for his absence: “Well done to the Radio Classique team, whom I listen to for a good part of the day. Life sometimes reserves, in the field of health, stray bullets from which we recover with rest. No drama, I’ll be back soon. I miss the team, the authors obviously”, had detailed the journalist. Seven months after his absence from the morning, the host is ready to resume service as he proudly announced on Twitter.
The return of Guillaume Durand
After months of absence, the journalist entered his Twitter account to share the good news. Guillaume Durand will resume his place on Radio Classique. However, he will not take the reins of the morning. The 69-year-old took the opportunity to say more about his health problems, revealing that he had been affected by a “sacred cancer” who was treated with an operation and chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions. “I find Radio Classique at the start of the school year. The morning remains for young people. Thanks science / medicine. First jogging after a hell of cancer operated for 10 hours on June 25. Then chemo and radio followed by a good Covid. Take fear by the hand and live. Take care at Christmas ”, said the host. Good news for someone who has had a difficult year after the death of his father and the diagnosis of his cancer.
A difficult year
Last year, the journalist had indeed lost his father, Lucien, aged 100. “My father died this morning at the age of 100, a few weeks after his friend and colleague Daniel Cordier. Lucien and my mom loved their artists. A number of young painters or sculptors passed by 19 rue Mazarine to talk about a first exhibition. I owe them everything. Born on July 14, 1920, the Covid did not mow him down, but it is a victory that he will not see”, He sadly announced on his Twitter account.
