“In the end, hiding leads to poor self-esteem,” says business psychologist Christian Fichter.
When it comes to popular series such as “Squid Game”, everyone who is eaten is happy to have a say. But many will become silent if it could be discovered that they are at least as happy to watch a kitschy telenovela. It is the same with games, books or music. Readers gave away their guilty pleasures for 20 minutes (see photo gallery).

Hobby is almost embarrassing
The middle school teacher YZ (29) doesn’t raise his passion for board games. He mainly plays with his family, his girlfriend or with friends from the board game scene. “When I talk about it, a lot of people keep staring at me. Outwardly, people want to signal moral or intellectual superiority. Entertainment products with banal content such as love, war, money, gossip and gossip do not meet this requirement.
Are you with a simple mind when such content captivates you?
Not at all. The interest in the banal as well as smaller and larger horrors is in our nature. To a certain extent, it is even “vital” if we know what pitfalls other people have to face. It’s the same with food.
As?
Nobody can eat just lettuce. At some point there is gas and diarrhea. The urban lifestyle hipster with the yoga mat under his arm also secretly goes to McDonald’s.
Do you need to break a taboo?
Yes. You should be reflective about your guilty pleasures. Hiding things up leads to poor self-worth in the end.
