Guy Roux: this film where he made a remarkable appearance

Iconic coach of AJ Auxerre from 1961 to 2005, Guy Roux left its mark on French football. So much so that the 83-year-old man has the right to a documentary in his honor, Guy Roux, a story from France, available on the Prime Video platform, this Thursday, September 1. For the occasion, Télé Star invites you to discover in which film the coach made a remarkable appearance.

In 2016, Guy Roux agrees to play his own role in the feature film The Dream Team by Thomas Sorriaux, in which we find in particular Gérard Depardieu and Medi Sadoun. The former Auxerre coach comments on a football match alongside Christian Jeanpierre. This short appearance is the only one of Guy Roux in the cinema. However, by the end of the 1970s, he had accepted a role as a technical consultant on the film Headbuttwith Patrick Dewaere, considered, until today, as the best football film.

Withdrawn from the field and now a consultant (he officiates in particular on Europe 1 since the start of the school year), Guy Roux has never had the chance to train the France team. But the star of French football can console himself by remembering that he is the sole coach of the France team of … the National Assembly. Indeed, for several years now, deputies have been meeting to play charity matches. A French team in which Guy Roux was notably able to train Olivier Véran, striker, Ugo Bernalicis, midfielder or even Éric Woerth.
