In February of this year, we learned that the Polish studio CD Projekt RED was working on a standalone, in the universe of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. Moreover, Pawel Burza, head of communication on GWENT games, had declared, on this subject: It’s not another Witcher Tales game, but something different. Our goal is to deliver an engaging single-player game for players who prefer it to the competitive multiplayer-centric Gwent.”
This standalone was then called “The Golden Nekker” and was to be released by the end of 2022. However, to everyone’s surprise, the title, renamed “GWENT: Rogue Mage”just surrendered available on PC and smartphones. Indeed, starting today, players who want to try GWENT: Rogue Mage can do so by purchasing the game on the Steam or GOG platform. As for smartphones, the game is available through the Play Store or the Apple Store. The PC version is priced at €9.99, while the price displayed on the Play Store is €10.99.
GWENT: Rogue Mage is considered a single-player expansion for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. Its gameplay is a mix of roguelike mechanics, deck building, and strategy. The events narrated take place before Geralt’s arrival on the Continent. The app invites us to follow the adventures of Alzur, a young mage, and his companion, Lily.
Thus, Gwent: Rogue Mage is available on PC (via Steam and GOG) and smartphones (iOS and Android). No port, on consoles, seems to be planned.
