the disaster continues, the players can’t take it anymore

Cities Skylines 2 is still suffering from a bug. Clearly, it doesn’t stop and the city builder is literally cursed. This is what we can learn on the subject, and it’s quite sad.

The latest update for Cities Skylines 2 unfortunately introduced a significant bug affecting the display of certain buildings. Colossal Order, the game’s developer, is facing a technical challenge following the removal of the Beach Properties DLC, which resulted in gray, featureless buildings appearing in players’ towns. Yes, the problems continue!

Origin of the problem in Cities Skylines 2

The first DLC for Cities Skylines 2, titled Beach Properties, has been removed from sale. This decision is part of the publisher’s approach to integrating this content into the base game free of charge for all users, with the aim of improving the game’s image following criticism of its performance. However, this removal had the unintended consequence of replacing specific elements of this DLC in players’ towns with gray blocks.

Testimonials from affected players abound, with some sharing images of residential and leisure areas transformed into “gray tombstones”, illustrating the extent of the visual annoyance caused by this bug. The publisher acknowledged the problem and communicated on the measures taken to correct this error, in particular by refunding buyers of the DLC and adding compensation for those who acquired the ultimate edition of Cities Skylines 2.

A solution ?

Colossal Order announced that a patch update was in preparation and should be available within two to three weeks, following a testing and certification phase. Meanwhile, a community manager advised players not to load saves that include many riverside areas until the DLC content is stably integrated into the base game.

In the meantime, players are asked to be patient. And to explore other features of the game or to turn to mods proposed by the community to improve the gaming experience. Furthermore, the announcement of the launch of the console version of Cities Skylines 2 scheduled for October offers a glimmer of hope and future expansion of the gaming audience.
