“Difficult relationship with my stepchildren”

Gwyneth Paltrow found the start to her new role as stepmother anything but easy. Her stepchildren didn’t make it easy for the Oscar winner at first.
The actress also brought two children into the marriage, daughter Apple, 19, and son Moses, 17, whom she is raising with her ex, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, 47. Accordingly, Brad and Gwyneth had almost identical backgrounds, but the beginnings as a patchwork family were anything but easy. The Oscar winner explained on stage at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel at the “Visionary Women’s International Women’s Day Summit” how rocky the road was for her as a stepmother.

After asking the audience if there were any other stepmoms in the crowd, the actress responded, according to Page Six, “Yeah, that’s some heavy shit, right guys?” But jokes aside, the transition into her role wasn’t easy for Gwyneth Paltrow, but it helped her tremendously. “I really enjoy talking about it because it’s one of my greatest realizations as a human being,” she revealed, elaborating:
I have grown personally because I initially had a difficult relationship with my stepchildren – and now they are like my children.
Today she enjoys having a loving relationship with her stepchildren, but the beginning was difficult. The screen actress makes no secret of this. “The road here was really hard.”
She had to learn not to take setbacks and rejections from her stepchildren personally. After all, the transition certainly wasn’t easy for Isabella and Brody. “It’s almost like you have to embody the spirit of the sun and just give and expect nothing in return. I’ve learned to just keep shining like the sun and never keep score.”
Apparently, Gwyneth Paltrow has managed to build a warm relationship with her stepchildren over time. She stuck with it, swallowed down the downfalls and did everything she could to have a good relationship with her husband’s kids.
And things are going well in the other direction too. Her ex-husband Chris Martin has been in a relationship with “Fifty Shades of Grey” star Dakota Johnson, 34, for years. Gwyneth has also reportedly given her blessing to a possible wedding between the two. Gwyneth even has a friendship with her successor Dakota. Respect anyone who creates something like that.
