Others put their trophies in the closet, Gwyneth Paltrow thinks more practically. She uses her Oscar statue to hold doors.

Gwyneth Paltrow (51) apparently uses her Oscar statue very practically. During an interview with “Vogue” it emerged that the 51-year-old actress uses her trophy – which she won for best actress for “Shakespeare in Love” (1998) – as a doorstop.

In the “Vogue” video, which was apparently filmed in the Hollywood star’s home in the Hamptons over the summer, Paltrow led her visitors into her garden. As she walks through a door, the camera lingers on an Academy Award lying on the floor, holding the doorway open. The actress jokingly explained: “My doorstop. It works perfectly!”

However, not all of Paltrow’s cult possessions apparently have a dual function. The red velvet Gucci suit that she wore to the MTV VMAs in 1996 and again at the label’s show in 2021 is in her closet in California, she revealed. “At the moment” she’s not using it to hold any doors open here, Paltrow explained with a laugh when asked.

Gwyneth Paltrow had a crisis of meaning after winning the Oscars

In May, Paltrow spoke more seriously about her Oscar win. She revealed that she experienced an “identity crisis” after this career peak. “I just wanted to be successful and enjoy respect.” Everything happened “so quickly” she said during an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.

“After I won the Oscar, I had a bit of an identity crisis. Because when you win the biggest prize, what are you supposed to do?” she added. “And where do you go? It was hard, the amount of attention you get on a night like that and in the weeks that follow is so confusing and, frankly, really unhealthy.”
