Hacking of Viamedis and Almerys: how to file a complaint online?

The National Commission for Information Technology and Liberties (Cnil) revealed last week that the data of 33 million customers of third-party payment operators Viamedis and Almerys had been stolen. Faced with the scale of this cyberattack, cybermalveillance.gouv.fr allows those affected to file complaints online.

Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr has set up a form allowing people who may have been affected by this hack to file a complaint online. While the Paris Police Prefecture’s anti-cybercrime brigade is carrying out its investigation, the authorities are facilitating the process so that it is not necessary to go to the police station.

If you are or have been a customer of the third-party payment operators Viamedis and Almerys, you must go to this address and complete the form with these elements:

  • Name
  • First name
  • Date
  • Place of birth
  • Address
  • Postal code
  • City
  • Phone number
  • Name of health/mutual insurance

Two boxes are checked by default. One asks if you have been informed that your data may have been stolen and the second confirms that a complaint will be filed.against any person that the investigation determines to be responsible for these facts“. It’s up to you to uncheck them depending on the situation and your preference.

Once the complaint form is completed, there are two options for sending it to the authorities:

  • In digital format from France Transfer to the following address: [email protected]
  • In paper format by post to this address after completing the form: Directorate of the Judicial Police PP BL2C 2024/030, 36 rue du Bastion, 75017 Paris

Sensitive data stolen by hackers

Following this major hack, the CNIL revealed the information held by the hackers. They will undoubtedly be used to carry out very targeted phishing operations, particularly if the authors cross-reference this information with that obtained during other attacks. Among the stolen elements, we find the name, first name, date of birth, social security number (the most sensitive, certainly), the name of the health insurance and the insurer’s contract number.
