Fighting resumed this Friday morning between Hamas and Israel, putting an end to the seven-day truce that began between the two camps at the start of the week. Despite this, almost half of the hostages held by Hamas were released, including four Franco-Israeli. Latest: Mia Schem.

The conflict between Hamas and Israel resumed this Friday morning. The United States, like Qatar and Egypt, however, tried in vain to make this truce last with two priorities: humanitarian aid to Gaza and the release of Hamas hostages.

A moving reunion

Despite everything, almost half of the hostages were released during the seven days of ceasefire, including four Franco-Israeli. Latest: Mia Schem. The young woman was able to reunite with her family Thursday evening. Mia arrived discreetly in an unmarked ambulance. The journalists were able to briefly see her alongside her mother and her brother, before she rushed into the entrance to the emergency department. Her relatives went to join her in southern Israel as soon as her release was announced on Thursday afternoon.

In images released by the Israeli army, it is possible to see Mia Schem in the arms of her mother Keren and in those of her brother. The 21-year-old woman appeared weakened. Her state of health was a source of questions even though we know that she broke her arm during her kidnapping on October 7. Information known to everyone, because it was seen a week later in a video broadcast by Hamas.

Gradual return to normal life

She is also the only French woman for whom we had real proof of life before the release of the children Erez and Sahar Kalderon, as well as little Eitan. Mia Schem is now at Sheba hospital, where she will stay for a few days convalescing alongside her loved ones.

Particular attention will be paid to her arm, but also to her eyes, as she seems to have spent the majority of her captivity in darkness.
