Handlebar jammed – microsleep at the wheel led to a frontal crash

Because he apparently fell asleep briefly while driving, a car driver (25) got into the opposite lane in the Mittlern area on Saturday morning and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

The 25-year-old from Wolfsberg was traveling towards Bleiburg at around 5:18 a.m. on Saturday when he suddenly crossed into the opposite lane on Mittlerner Straße and crashed head-on into an oncoming Slovenian. “Probably due to microsleep,” as the state police department says. Other drivers rushed to help. In the crash, the 52-year-old driver’s lower leg was trapped in the vehicle. Road users following behind immediately provided first aid before the injured person was taken to the Wolfsberg LKH. The 25-year-old was taken to the AUKH Klagenfurt. Both cars were totaled.
