Bayern talent shines for newly promoted Elversberg

With their third home win in a row, Hannover 96 has temporarily taken second place in the 2nd Bundesliga. Meanwhile, SV Elversberg continues to soar. With a clear win against Eintracht Braunschweig, the newcomer celebrated its fourth win in its tenth game of the season.

Hannover 96 – 1. FC Magdeburg 2:1 (1:0)

Hannover 96 came out of the international break successfully and has initially taken second place in the 2nd Bundesliga. The Lower Saxony team won 2-1 (1-0) against 1. FC Magdeburg and at least temporarily secured direct promotion. Magdeburg, on the other hand, which has now been waiting for a win for five games, has to look downwards. In a balanced game, Enzo Leopold (11th) and Cedric Teuchert (61st, hand penalty) scored for Hannover. Magdeburg’s Baris Atik (57th) had equalized with a brilliant shot from distance.

Hannover had a bit of luck with their opening goal: Magdeburg’s Daniel Heber decisively deflected Leopold’s shot. Goalkeeper Dominik Reimann couldn’t react quickly enough, but Reimann was there to counter Teuchert’s shot (34′). Again Teuchert (40th) missed the 2-0. That took its toll: The eye-catching Atik overcame Hannover’s Rob-Robert Zieler, worth seeing. But after a handball from Daniel Elfadli there was a penalty, which Teuchert effortlessly converted. Magdeburg braced itself against the impending defeat – and kept looking for Atik. But the 28-year-old failed twice with a free kick to Zieler (78th, 80th).

SV Elversberg – Eintracht Braunschweig 3:0 (2:0)

Second division promoted SV Elversberg has continued its impressive series. With a 3-0 (2-0) home win against bottom club Eintracht Braunschweig, the SVE remained unbeaten in the sixth league game in a row and reduced the gap to the promotion ranks to three points, at least for the time being. Braunschweig, on the other hand, missed an important breakthrough and the possible jump to 16th place. Paul Stock (20th) scored with the first chance of the game to give the hosts the lead, and the strong Bayern loanee Paul Wanner (43rd) increased the score shortly before the break. Joseph Boyamba (90th + 6) eliminated any last doubts.

The first excitement arose in the Waldstadion Kaiserlinde after almost twelve minutes – but not a sporting one: Braunschweig fans from the guest block threw several smoking pots onto the lawn, referee Robert Hartmann (Wangen) interrupted the game for a few minutes. A short time later, Elversberg took advantage of his first opportunity. After a corner, a header landed at Stock, who shot from around 14 meters and shot the ball into the bottom left corner.

Braunschweig often relied on counterattacks. However, the league’s weakest offense posed little threat in the first half. Wanner, who is only 17 years old, punished Eintracht’s passivity before the break with a powerful shot into the short corner. In the second half, Elversberg managed the lead confidently, but the offensive power was mostly lacking. Braunschweig remained shockingly passive; a shot from Anton Donkor (68′) that was too central was the first dangerous scene for the guests.
