Hanover hits twice late
Superjoker Modeste rolls over Stuttgart
1. FC Köln are in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup thanks to their goalscorer Anthony Modeste. He doesn’t need time to warm up after his substitution. In the second division duels of the evening Hannover 96 prevailed at home, in Regensburg there was extra time.

For a long time, the billy goat eleven fought equal Swabians in the 100th competitive duel of both clubs thanks to the highly dangerous French 2-0 (0-0). Modeste scored a few seconds after his substitution to take the lead (72nd) and also made the decision (77th).
FC and Modeste, who had already scored twice in the league in Leverkusen and are now in eight competitive matches, take a lot of self-confidence in the difficult league task at Borussia Dortmund. In Stuttgart, on the other hand, disillusionment returns after the last four games without bankruptcy. Apart from an early chance by Chris Führich (6th), the Swabians lacked penetration and the necessary precision in the last third, despite a rather pleasing playing structure. Hannover 96 made it into the round of 16 for the first time in five years. The 1992 cup winner prevailed 3-0 (1-0) in the second division duel against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Sebastian Kerk (30th) and double packer Maximilian Beier (90th + 3 / 90th + 6) scored the goals against the two-time cup winners.
Despite four games without a win in the league, the Lower Saxony started confidently. The hosts went into the duels aggressively and developed slight field advantages. The guests booked their first chance through Robert Bozenik (17th). As a result, Hannover got better and better and took the lead after a nice combination. Kerk scored after a one-two with Beier. The lead gave Hanover even more security, Julian Börner missed the 2-0 (43rd).
The hosts withdrew a bit in the second half, but Düsseldorf did not think of anything at first. The Rhinelander’s game lacked precision. Jakub Piotrowski still had the chance to equalize (68th). Beier made everything clear in stoppage time.
