The designers are bringing back a casual trend: harem pants are experiencing a revival in 2022. This is how you style the comfortable pants in an elegant way.
Casual, but still elegant: The harem pants are probably the most beautiful and comfortable pants trend for the upcoming spring and summer season. In the most diverse variations, the pants with the loose silhouette represent a real alternative to the popular jeans.
The classic harem pants are characterized by an oversize shape. That means it is made of a flowing, supple fabric with a wide cut that usually ends at the ankles. At first glance, the trousers look like a skirt, but if you take a closer look you can see the wide trouser legs.
How do you style the harem pants for everyday use?
You don’t have to be a hippie to be able to wear the wide trousers in everyday life. If you rely on the right combination, you can conjure up elegant looks with it. Among other things, it depends on the material of the pants. Harem pants made of cotton are the perfect everyday companion and relatively easy to care for. Finer fabrics such as silk, linen or chiffon exude a casual elegance in warmer temperatures. Solid fabrics such as denim, velvet or tweed appear more robust and are suitable for cooler temperatures. At the Emporio Armani fall/winter collection, models presented royal blue velvet models. The French fashion designer Alexis Mabille designed a cream colored model with a shimmering mesh finish.
The harem pants are particularly effective when they are the focus of the outfit. In order not to overload the look, it is enough to combine a plain white top or t-shirt with the flowing fabric of the trousers. Filigree strappy sandals and loose hair – the stylish early summer look is complete.
Courage for the monochrome look
Another possibility is to make the harem pants part of a monochrome look. To do this, you choose a color – for example one of the spring trend colors pink, pink, light blue, turquoise or yellow – and put together an outfit from just this color. The top that you combine with wide trousers should definitely be tight-fitting. This contrast keeps the look from looking baggy and clumsy. But simply elegant and stylish.
