- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle weren’t with the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony
- They were discreet, as they had promised to the sovereign
Thing promised, thing due. This Thursday, June 2, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee was launched in London to celebrate her 70 years of reign. This event, a historic first sinceno monarch has ever reigned over the UK for so long, could have been disturbed by the family problems that have been rocking the royal family for some time now. But everything has been done to make things work out for the best, and so that only Queen Elizabeth II is honored. Indeed, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, invited to the event but absent from the Buckingham balcony since they are no longer part of the “active” royal family, kept their promise by being particularly discreet.
The Sussex couple has indeed been at the heart of many controversies, whether during the marriage between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, or after the birth of their children with their departure for California. Harry and Meghan have left the royal family for several reasons and it has obviously been the source of tension within the various members of the family, including Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William. Yet on this Platinum Jubilee day, those who are watched by the paparazzi and entertained by the tabloid press knew how to avoid attention and to be more than discreet. Indeed only a few photos prove that they were present, in particular a photo published by the Mirror on which we see Meghan Markle and Prince Harry from behind with the Duke of Kent.
Meghan Markle teases with Elizabeth II’s great-granddaughters
In another photo, Meghan Markle teasingly appears with Savannah Philips, 11, and Mia Tindall, 8, the great-granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth II and granddaughters of Princess Anne. She was photographed smiling and to put a finger to his lips to signal to the two young girls not to make a sound. A discreet appearance which not only proved that thehe Duke and Duchess of Sussex were presentbut that in addition they were able to enjoy some family moments which took place, a priori, without a hitch.
