Harry and Meghan: why they are not necessarily welcome at the Platinum Jubilee of the Queen

On June 2, the British will celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. A major event to celebrate the 70 years of reign of the monarch and in which Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could participate. But their arrival would not be particularly well seen by the entire royal family.

A move that could make people cringe. From June 2, London will be decked out in its finest attire for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. To celebrate his 70 years of reign, Elizabeth II has planned to put the small dishes in the big ones. “The festivities will feature an extensive program of events that blend the best of British ceremonial splendor and pageantry with technically advanced artistic presentations”announced several months ago the British government.

And for this very important event, the whole royal family could be present, even Harry and Meghan ! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex would indeed plan to return to the United Kingdom with their two children for the Jubilee weekend. But this presence would not please everyone. Indeed, according to the Sunthe queen would have can’t wait to see the whole little familybut friends of Prince Charles and several members of the royal family fear that the arrival of Harry and Meghan will overshadow the event in honor of Elizabeth II.

Charles wants the Platinum Jubilee to focus solely on the Queen”said a source to the tabloid, before adding: “They don’t want this to become Harry and Meghan’s show. Charles and the whole family are in agreement on this point.”

Netflix invited to the Jubilee of Elizabeth II?

Another factor would also bother the Royal Family if Harry and Meghan are present for the festivities. Currently in the Netherlands for Invictus Games, the couple is followed by Netflix teams as part of a documentary series that the Sussexes produce. A project that pays them big because they signed a contract for 112 million pounds sterling (130 million euros) with the streaming platform. While Harry and Meghan have already been accused of having allowed Netflix cameras to film their secret visit to Elizabeth II and Charles this Thursday, April 14, the royal family fears that the American giant will press to participate in the Jubilee. “They’ll want to film behind the scenes or be in the crowd at Jubilee because that’s better footage for the documentary”, explained a source to The Sun. But it is not yet known if the parents of Archie and Lilibet would have given their consent for this. The party shouldn’t be spoiled though.
