The documentation of Prince Harry (38) and Duchess Meghan (41) was skipped at the Emmy Awards, but the couple can look forward to a nomination at the HCA TV Awards. The Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan” is the best at the TV Awards Hollywood Critics Association nominee for Best Streaming Nonfiction Series.

At the HCA TV Awards, the Sussexes line up with wildlife drama ‘The Planet Before Time’ and US series ‘Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss,’ which features an actor on a quest for happiness. Further competition is the reality show “Rennervations” with Jeremy Renner (52), the documentary series “1619 Project” produced by Oprah Winfrey (69) about the history of slavery in the USA and its effects and the Apple TV + travel documentary “Reluctant Vacation with Eugene Levy”.

Six-part series gave intimate insights

In December 2022, Meghan and Harry gave intimate insights into their relationship and their problematic relationship with the British royal family in their six-part Netflix series. Experts had given them a good chance of an Emmy nomination.

Except for the topic “Harry & Meghan”, the nominations of the HCA TV Awards overlap with those of the Emmys to a large extent: for example, the series “Beef”, “The Last of Us”, “Dahmer”, “The White Lotus” , “Succession” and “Wednesday” among the (multiple) nominees in both award lists.

The winners of the HCA TV Awards will be chosen by a panel of judges between July 18th and 25th. It is not yet known when the award ceremony will take place.
