Harry Potter 5: press pause at 1 hour and 13 minutes, and take a good look at this tapestry

Is the logo of the famous Starbucks coffee chain hidden in the fifth part of the Harry Potter saga, broadcast this evening on TF1? A look back at a little wink like no other.

A play on words to decipher on the pediment of the Mirror of Erised in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, a most suspicious blonde wig placed on Gilderoy Lockart’s desk in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, an unexpected appearance of the house elf Dobby in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire…

Like many pop culture franchises, the magical saga adapted from the works of JK Rowling contains a multitude of small details for the most attentive spectators.

Broadcast this evening on TF1, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth installment of the franchise, also contains its share of easter eggs and winks to spot. By opening your eyes at the right time, you will be able to observe a photographic cameo of James and Oliver Phelps, or even magical diversions of cereal boxes.

But the detail that will interest us today, hidden in the middle of the film, is even more surprising than the others. To find it, you will have to pause the image at 1 hour, 13 minutes and 44 seconds of the feature film, in the scene where Harry talks with his godfather Sirius Black, in front of the latter’s genealogical fresco.

Coming from a line of wizards with a rather dismal past, Sirius then evokes his origins with his godson by showing him the tapestry. In addition to the blackened portraits of certain members (erased because they were considered unworthy of remaining in the Black family) or the names of several ancestors regularly referring to stars or constellations, we can also notice, to the left of the door, a coat of arms of the strangers (see below).

Warner Bros.

Located at the bottom left of the screen, it is a sort of mermaid wearing a crown and having two fish tails. If this image rings a bell, it’s completely normal. It is in fact the same emblem as that which we see on the signs of the famous American coffee chain Starbucks: a logo which would also have been borrowed from a Scandinavian wood engraving from the 15th century.

Does Sirius Black’s family, in addition to being among the most illustrious lines of wizards, contain ancestors specialized in the sale of coffee?
